Feb 8: Daddy-Daughter Date Night

For the second year in a row, Calli and Rich have attended our church's daughter date night. So sweet. Calli picked out her dress, tights, and was so excited to wear a necklace.

Feb 1: Pictures from Today

Knowing that Calli wouldn't have school today - I thought a trip to the Children's Museum would be nice. But having received a foot of snow, I was afraid the place would be packed with families who needed an outing on a snow day. Nope - we almost had the place to ourselves - which is so very fun!


Mari picks out some lettuce. I later heard Calli refer to it as broccoli. I guess that makes it obvious that I give my children neither lettuce or broccoli. Actually, maybe I should just consider myself fortunate she identified it with a vegtable.

She even got into costume to be the mail carrier. She spent so much time putting letters in her bag - delivering them - and checking for more letters to mail.


Calli designed and built this all on her own. Impressive - don't ya think?

Oct 31: First Trick or Treat

This year was the first time the girls (or myself) ever went trick-or-treating. They loved it!
Calli was Winnie the Pooh. She had a cute hat with ears and everything that she accidentally left at Escuela. Mari was a firefighter, but didn't want to wear her hat, so Calli wore it most the night.

After the trick-or-treating, we went to Lucas' new house for a little dinner party. They had chocolate cake with brigedero (sp??) as icing. I asked for some to take home - it was so yummy!

Today we went on another trip to the zoo with Dillon.

August 20: Little Glasses

Mari really likes playing with Mr. Potato Head lately. She takes all the parts and puts them in Picasso style - in other words - she has creative placement. But she likes to wear the glasses herself.

A lot of time has spent the last several days with both girls in their "dancing dresses".

Today, Calli wanted to make a boat. So we laid out blankets, founds seats, made a mast (complete with flag) and wore our (life)jackets.

I was amazed I was able to such good pictures of Calli and I using the timer on the camera. Here we are, eating our doughnuts on the boat.

We even added these blocks, for the water.

So we can be safe

Today, we pulled out the "pretending box" which has a few dress-up clothes and props: a stethoscope, a firefighter's hat, etc. Calli found these knee and elbow pads and wanted to try them out.


Once she had them on, she wanted to roller skate. She had to settle for Dadda pulling her over the hardwood floors in her socks.

**And then,
a couple days later, we read a Dora book where Dora wore her knee and elbow pads along with her helmet to ride her bike "so we can be safe". So Calli insisted on wearing the whole getup next time she road her trike. I'm all for safety, but I really think for the speeds Calli reaches, a helmet should suffice. The pads would be more useful when she is running full speed down the sidewalk.

Recently Calli has gotten a couple of Hello Kitty toys in McDonalds' Happy Meals. One is lip gloss, which she loves, and we have hidden. The other is a cute bracelet/ring set, that came in this Hello Kitty tube. She has been playing with it a little bit over the last couple of days.

Today, she asked me for help putting on the bracelet and ring. Almost immediately, she wanted me to help her take them off. She said, "I do it later, after I grow up, like a mom".

Just like the Movie Stars

Rich loves to read the "They're just like us" section of US magazine. It cracks me up. Every week it has a picture of some celebrity in a hat and sunglasses at the grocery store or something.

Well, today I took the girls to run some errands with me. We made a stop at Trader Joe's - where we learned they no longer carry chocolate chocolate chip pancake mix :( ! Calli loves the store, because they have kid-sized carts, and give out helium balloons. For some reason, she wanted to wear both her sunglasses, and her hat into the store. So with her kid-sized cart, she looked just like the "just like us" pictures!! Don't you think??

Beads & Blankies

Calli likes to dress up - and use her blankie as a skirt. It goes so well with the necklaces and sunglasses - don't you think?
Mari likes the necklaces too. I think she mostly enjoys putting them on, and taking them off.
While taking off some necklaces - Calli's beads got stuck on her pigtails. So she had me put them on her pigtails and then said "I'm getting married". I guess that is what a bridal veil is to her.
