Sept 18: Around Our House

These pictures aren't of us at some special event or activity. They are just shots from around the house - us doing things you could see us doing most every day if you were a fly on the wall.

Mari - in her most recent FAVORITE activity: trying to brush her teeth. Or actually, sucking water off her toothbrush.
Miracualously, she has only fallen twice as she stands on the toilet and leans waaaay over to reach the faucet. I often find her like this, yelling "(pl)EASE" for toothpaste or "is-hot, is-hot (it's hot)" because she would only turn on the hot water. But I'm trying to teach her to reach to the cold knob.



The girls in our bed. They usually like to jump on the bed, jump on pillows, tackle each other, or hide under the covers.

Calli - she doesn't like to pose for the camera, so good still shots of her smiling are rare these days.

The End of Naps

And there was much weeping throughout the kingdom!!

It seems they teamed up on this one, and Mari decided to drop her morning nap at the same time Calli dropped her afternoon nap. So sad. I haven't quite admited defeat. For the last week or so, I've still tried to put Calli down for a nap each afternoon - even though she hasn't been sleeping.
So today, Rich heard some noice in her room and found this. She had gotten a bunch of toys off the shelf and brought them all on the bed. (We have a no toy policy for naps.)



And I just love this picture. Isn't is so cute when they cross their legs when they are asleep??

Sleepy Sleepy!

Good news - after just one night of letting her cry (off and on for an hour) Mari slept two nights in a row from bedtime until 6am. YAY, Mari!!!

However, as of late, Calli has been waking up at night. She isn't in pain, and doesn't need to get up, she just wants one of us to lay by her until she falls asleep again. But as you may guess, that can easily put either one of us to sleep.

Big Bed

There is something fun and luxurious about a big bed. I know I feel that way whenever we sleep in a King-sized bed. Here are the girls, living it up in our bed.

Vacation Hotel

In honor of Fathers' Day (and the outlet malls) we planned a family excursion to Michigan City, IN this weekend. We planned to shop, stay in a rental home, visit the beach, spend the night, and have a leisurely morning with the girls' Grandparents and Tia KT.

Unfortunately, the house, in addition to being too small for our 7 person group, had a very strong odor and we had to make other arrangements. Oh, how Calli cried. She was SO looking forward to the "vacation house". So Rich had to explain how the vacation house was too small, but we would look for a "vacation hotel" instead.

Two girls in a bed

After naptime today, Mariella and I went in to get Calli up. Mari and Calli both love playing in the crib together. Before I went to get the camera, Mari was on top of Calli giving her kisses and love, but of course was done by the time I got back.

Today we borrowed some toys from Romeo. I thought Mari would be the only one interested in them - but Calli loves them too. Mari loves standing and pushing the buttons.
Calli walks around with "her cart" filled with whatever she can find: little people, little books, her sweater, rubber ducks, you name it. I actually got her to smile and say 'cheese' but none of the pictures came out with her looking at the camera.
